ticking noise
my 92 ranger 4x4 has a 2.9L with 245000 kms on it. sometimes when im driving there is a ticking noise coming from the lifters. there is also a nosie coming from somewhere when you step on it, it sounds like a deisal and feels slugish. i was wondering wut that could be from.

the lifter bit is pretty common deal. its a defect in the oiling system that causes air to get trapped into the lifters. im sure some one up here could explain this better than i can but after having 4 2.9L engines, all of them have had the lifter tick . (and no thats not 4 engine swaps thats 4 trucks with the 2.9L) as far as the deisel bit.. when was the last tune up done on it? could be time for new plugs/wires/cap/button. also a bit of injecter cleaner wouldnt hurt, as well as fuel filter. i would also check the timing if its too advanced or retarded than its not burning at the correct time and could cause the same symptoms
