I've got a '93 Bronco 302 E4OD with 75k. Within past two months, new cap, rotor, plugs, wires, idle air sensor, has k&n filter, yesterday i replaced the EGR valve to cure a rough idle. after reinstalling the neg. battery cable, ran great for the first 10 miles or so. but now after driving, when i place the shifter in park, the voltmeter drops, the revs drop and it stalls out. is my alternator dead/dying? i cleaned the contacts on my battery cable/posts and checked the connections. checked ATF, that's fine. just had ford 75k service, so new fuel filter-any ideas? this truck has always ran well...
p.s. voltmeter also drops when lights turned on, so i'm guessing maybe voltage regulator?
thanks
I know it's an unrelated type of vehicele, but my 95 patrol car (Crown Vic) had a similar problem. The mechanics said whenever you disconnect the negative cable, make sure it stays disconnected for atleast :15 minutes, this allows the computer to completely clear, then again they just may enjoy seeing me reprogram everything. I asked them about your prob, and they gave this advise:
#1. check the ground wire from the engine to the body; clean and secure
#2. may be a bad cell in the battery, most auto parts stor will test it, while still in the vehicle
#3. volatge regulator...
Good luck
