please help me decide! 8ft bed is a must. I'm having trouble deciding which wheelbase truck to get. let me say that I am single no kids and currently am driving a regular cab truck. Just would like some extra room for when I travel to see my folks. My initial thought were to get a 158 " truck (supercab) but most of my buddies are telling me to get a cc 172" truck, that I will regret not getting the full 4dr. what's everybodies opinion here? pro's and con's of each would be great. Thanks.
Obviously the con to getting a Crew Cab is the length of the truck, and the extra cost. But you can't beat the storage space. I just got my 3rd. crew cab long wheel base ford and would never get anything smaller. The turning radius on my 03' was less but with the new front ends on these trucks they now turn sharper than the old short wheel bases. Plus the metal fold out racks that are underneath the seat are awesome.
If you are parking in crowded lots a large percentage of the time you might want to lean towards the supercab. My wife drives our CC LB around all the time with no issues.
If you are driving a bunch of people around then the SC. I love my SC and off road and would have high centered many times with the CC. Plus the SC will give those reclining seats that the standard cabs don't have. Either way, both styles kick a$$.
I love my CC. I had a SC but I just wanted more room. The CC gives me all the extra storage I need when my bed is full. I am trading my 2003 CC in for a 2008 CC.I can actually fit my entire drum set in the back seat of my CC.

I just ordered the 08 in a CC with the 6.5 foot bed. I also got the stowable bed extender which will suit my needs if I need the full 8 ft. in the bed. I need to be able to fit 3 kids in the back so the CC was a must for me. I test drove the truck many times before I bought it and was a little concerned about how long it is and how manuverable it is. It is about 2 ft longer than the Expedition EL I just bought for my wife and even that can be tough to get into some parking lots.
The new CC is huge in the back. About 42 inches of leg room vs 32 for the super cab. I know lots of people that have the supercab and are happy with it. There is plenty of room back there to store stuff. I wouldn't recommend putting adults back there to sit on long rides though short trips should be ok. Even if you end up having kids one or two will easily fit back there. I drove a regular cab for a while and it seemed like I always need just a little more room so it makes sense to get something bigger. I just didn't hear you say anything that means you really need one. I think that you should go test drive a CC and go try to park it in a crowded parking lot or back it out of a driveway and see if you are comfortable with how long it is. The last thing you want to do is buy it with out really needing it and then be unhappy because it is a pain in the butt to park. Do your buddies tell you why you will regret not getting the CC with the 8ft bed? That is one long truck to be driving everyday. I guess it wouldn't be as bad if you live in the country and don't have to drive it in a city very often.
Goodluck with whatever you decide to go with!!

I've long said that the SC is comfortable enough to sit in the back to go to town for lunch, however I wouldn't want to sit back there for any type of road trip.
With that in mind I'd get the SC if I didn't have to haul people on longer trips. The CC is nice, but a shorter more manuverable truck would be my preference if I didn't need the extra back seat space.
I have a SC w/8'box. I can't function with a short bed. Went from a '94 F250 w/std.cab/8'box to my current '05. The '05 SC w/8'box turns far sharper than the shorter '94.
I took out the rear seat and put in a carpeted platform (at seat height) with lots of storage underneath. The platform works far better for pets and hauling items than the leather seat.
If the 8 foot bed is a must, i would think seriously on the Super Cab.
The crew cab is fantastic with the folding up seats and the fold down
storage racks. However, I had a dually crew 8 foot and it was and absolute
pain in the *** when I drove through taco bell.
