yo. Does the solenoid click when turning the key to the START position? If not, then check out your cables, esp the negative (Black) cable and be sure the ground is ok. Then check the starter connection before buying a new starter. There other other things down the line that could be a problem too, but these are the usual suspects. Good luck, AL
ok, I seem to remember that you had it running before. Do you have headlights working, and the horn? Maybe you hooked up the started solenoid incorrectly?
Your fender mounted relay (some call it a solenoid) needs to pull first to send 12 volts to the actual solenoid down in the starter itself. Check with a voltmeter to see if you are getting 12 volts to the small terminal on the relay (that's the coil connection) when key is in Start. The other side of the relay coil connects to the mounting bracket, and it gets its ground through that bracket. So check bracket mount, and wire from batt. neg. terminal to fender. Could jump a wire from neg. batt. to the bracket if you think that ground path might be open.
If you don't get 12 volts on that relay coil terminal when in Start, then you have a problem to troubleshoot upstream. Like Fuse, or ignition switch in column, neutral safety start switch on trans or slightly mis-adjusted trans linkage, etc. Look in Haynes or Chiltons for Bronco/F-150 wiring diagram for your year. Really need to test, as just replacing parts gets to $$$ real quick.
