I was wondering how much of a gap there was at the cowl and the back portion of the hood, I have about 5/8 of an inch right now and it appears that the radiator support may need to be lifted up but not sure if I have that much play where the fenders bolt to the side cowls, if this makes sense, the big problem is trying to get all these remanufactured parts to fit each other, do any of you fine gents have any suggestions? Hoping Premature balding is occuring.
Don't give up ! adjust, adjust and adjust again. The gap is to big at 5/8" . Keep in mind these trucks were not built like Porcshes, However, You may be right and have to raise the radiator support to close the gap. Suggestion; do not tighten all the bolts. Yet, work from front to back and back to front. untill you get it. Then tighten things up after the gap is closer. Leave room for clearence.
Take a break, have a brew, go back to it. This is just one of those things that take time,
Did you install new rubber spacers under the radiator horseshoe? There should be two rubber biscuits ~ 1/2" thick under there. My hood gap was ~ 3/8". When adjusting the front end you start with the hood to cowl fit, and adjust everything else to match.
My hood is attached to hinges because I was planning on going with a forward tilt hood such as yours AX or possibly Randyjacks. I do have the rubber spacers but as mentioned in a previous post I had to make a cross member to support the rad support,it isn't welded yet only clamped in place. Thought that if I had the proper gap dimensions and some good advice I'd be away on high. Thanks for your tip on starting from the cowl. If I dig under the pile of junk I have sitting on top of the original frame I'd be able to get the exact dimension I need as to the hieght of the original cross member for the rad to the cab mounts.
