1" Deep well socket. Watch you don't bend the sheet metal tab too much. I straigtened mine out when reinstalling. The tube is a 5/8" Nut. My tube was all rusted out so I replaced it. New tube p/n: 1C3Z-9D477-AA. Bought mine @ powerstrokeshop.com for 41 dollars I think. New sensor is 75 dollars or if you're patient for ebay, you can usually get a new sensor for $30. I bought both.
The tube runs down in the passenger exhaust manifold, next to the fuel drain.

The sensor is not really close to the fan.. It is located right behind your idler pully and down a couple inches.. A 1 inch socket with an extension works very easy.. Had mine off today..

I find it alot better to remove the tube to the exhaust manifold to clean it, unless your is rusted at the fitting like alot of posts I have read.. Then it might need some penetrating oil and let it soak for awhile..
