i'm new here and from reading the posts i see i might be able to get some help. when my truck is cold it makes like a missing sound stalls a little and nearly dies. it also happens when i turn a corner in 3rd gear. i know that something is wrong but i don't know what. i overhauled the carb but it still does it. any advise would help.
it's fine in 2nd but when i drive i've always turned in 3rd on my other 73 and it was fine. the town i live in hass few stop signs between streets and dropping to second really bogs down my truck.

If dropping to second bogs it down then no wonder it stalls in third gear...
Keep the RPM's above 1000 at all times when driving. A steady state cruise should be around 2000RPM.
1k at idle is to fast, should be somewhere from 600-800rpm. Turning a corner results in more resistance than driving in a straight line, therefore the rpms will drop.
