Ford's 70's Excursion?

4 door rangers, etc. have been all over the WORLD (mexico, central and south america mainly) forever. For some reason (maybe emissions - maybe safety standards) these trucks were not available here. As was stated, it has only been more recenty that these cool truck ideas are showing up here. Not sure why it took them so long to figure out...

In the 1990's, I worked for TNN (remember back when Spike TV used to be The Nashville Network) shooting and producing outdoors shows. On two different fishing trips to central Mexico, I saw several of those trucks. What was really interesting was that on one of the trips, we were driving one of the show sponsored trucks down there to Lake Baccarac. That truck I drove 10 hours south of the border was a "almost new" 1991 Ford / Centurion F-350 4x4 with the 460. Thank Heaven it wasn't MY gas. Anyways, judging from the way the Centurion was built (with the removable rear roof and rear section from a '91 Bronco) there is no way all those were custom jobs. Way too many of them were beat and used for daily transportation. All of them that I saw were basic trucks-not even A/C.
Just figured I would add this in since I have had a little experience in both a Centurion and viewing one of those old Fords.
