Fuel gauge problems

Hey i have a 2001 250 superduty and i think my fuel gauge is as acurate as can be (NOT).......it free floats bad and i have no clue how much gas it can hold or how many miles i can go....heres an example if im facing downhil i have less fuel....my other ford doesnt do this and if i face uphill i have more gas....shoot when i drive i swear i see the needle drop steady then ill look later its up slightly.....does anyone know what this might be

Bad sending unit in the tank. Have to pull the tank to replace it.

The short bed trucks have 29 gal. tanks and the long bed 38 gal.
