460 Power Problems
Im new to the Forums. I am going to look at a 1989 F350 with a Newly swapped and Rebuilt 460 EFI. Now to the Problem. He Said that the Motor was rebuilt and Driven ~200 miles from NC to VA and it ran fine. No problems. Then he said the he went to drive it again and "acted like it had no power". I was wondering what you guys think it is and how expensive it would be to fix. I read up on it and though it maybe could be the EGR valve??? Maybe be completly wrong. Let me know what you think.
Thanks,
Scott

When it comes to liars, private sellers can be worse than car dealers. Ask the seller if he's willing to have an independent mechanic check out the vehicle, the usual cost is $100.00. If he makes excuses, or says no...leave in a hurry. If the engine was REALLY rebuilt, ask the seller for receipts. No receipts = no buy.
Swapped the engine? Hmm. I wonder if he used the computer from the vehicle the engine came from. If he didn't, and didn't swap over all the computer related items that relate to emissions, fuel and other stuff from the original engine, getting it to run correctly will be a nightmare, and will also be costly...for you.

NumberDummy- I'm not sure if he swapped the Computer from the donor truck or not. I will def. ask him. He said that his father-in law or father (cant remember which one) rebuilt it, and that he is a mechanic.
phelios27- The truck is lifted with 39's and the body is perfect even to being my favorite colors. The price he is selling it for is a steal if the engine problem turn out to be simple or not to costly. So I am going to at least take a look at it.
Bear 45/70 - I'm not sure how long it sat , I will ask.
wb6vvv - Not sure
darrin1999 - Maybe don't know if i want to get into swapping heads and all of that.
thanks
Scott
