i have a 92 ford ranger 4x4 a have 27" tires on it right now, i have a chance to get some 31"-10.5 tires and rims off a older jeep, i'm pritty sure the bolt patern is the same but i was wondering if the new tires would fit without rubing the fender with no lift?

31"s will fit a 4x4 without any modifications, but may, on earlier models, rub at full lock turning. Normally they're fine however.
The Jeep bolt pattern is the same, but trust me as I've tried putting Jeep rims on the Ranger, check your hub size...sometimes the Jeep wheels will not want to go over the stock hub without enlarging the hole.

I would bet that your gonna rub with that particular year model, lots of relatively inexpensive fixes for your year model/suspension type in comparison to the newer models. But the partcular year model and up to mid 90's Ford had the front end lower than the rear by about 2 1/2". You will need about 2 inches of lift to take care of any and all rubbing issues for 31's. Notice my wording there, any and all, sure the 31's will probably fit as is, but I would be willing to bet they rub a little. As far as the jeep bolt pattern, while it's the same bolt pattern, the off-set is much difrent, I know the mid 90's and up models are off-set about two inches further out in comparison to the Rangers off-set. Not neccisarily a bad thing though - would help with any rubbing issues on the inside, but might cause some rubbing issues on the lower rear portion of your fender flare or fender opening on your front tires - you will just need to bolt them on and check, the off set might actually help more than hurt though - good luck!
