If my results have any bearing, I'd say that the o-ring has very little to do with the actual sealing against an oil leak.
I used the wrong material o-ring (buna) because I had to get it on the road for only one day until the proper kit got here. I'm sure that o-ring would have failed by now if it was responsible for the sealing. I believe it is completely the use of LocTite that actually seals that plug.
After COMPLETELY cleaning with brake cleaner, both the threads into the HPOP and the ones on the plug, I used LocTite 242 (also the wrong stuff) and I haven't had a hint of a leak after months of driving. I suspect that this plug would be just fine without the use of an o-ring at all.
If it ever lets go again, I've got that kit in the center console with all the right stuff.
But 'till then.....

No this bolt is actually on the actual HPOP. From this pic it looks like nothing is behind it. When BTS has their dual oil pump setup, they cap off the stock line outlets, and use that same port as the oil outlet to the heads.
So in your opinion Kris I should be able to take it out get a new o-ring and some thread sealer and replace? I didn't want to pull it out and have check ***** rolling around................
Hmm, be weary of it, take it out slowly. There is a plug on the pump that has a check ball and a spring inside, the internal pump relief i believe 3800psi,but that is on the opposite side towards the EBP sensor area, The more i think about it, BTS just has a Tee fitting screwed in the same hole, i dont think anything belongs in there.
Just open the plug the night before you're going to do the job and be prepared for about a quart of oil to drain out. Use a spray can of brake cleaner to spritz on q-tips and clean that hole out EXTREMELY well. Make sure no oil is still running out onto the threads. Clean the plug just as well, too. Put on the o-ring, coat the first three threads ONLY with LocTite (number), and thread the plug into the hole. Tighten only just past snug.
Leave at least an hour while the LocTite is setting up, then re-fill the HPOP's reservoir and drive away.

Well last Sunday I dug in and removed the fuelfilter canister, boy it needed cleaning, and got to that bolt . It was just loose.... I removed it and the o-ring was fine so I put a little permetex#2 on the threads and tightened it up. About 350 miles and the valley is still dry . Thanks to all .
