What will the truck do now? Do you have any blown fuses? Is the constant battery circuit still live? Fusible links still intact? Have you tried the key again to see if it's limited to the ignition circuit? Is there an aftermarket stereo or any other added accessories that might be wired wrong?

It runs without the fuel pump? Or does it turn over, but not start?

Thanks...that clarifies things a bit. Did the fuel pump work before the incident?

Your inertia cut off switch for the fuel pump is located on the firewall just to the right of the heater vents...it's in the general area of where you're smelling the burnt wires. I'd check to see if that's fried.
