You'll notice that this is one of my first posts to this website. I'm beginning a '48 F1 project, and the first place to start is tracking down vendors for the stuff I'll have to accumulate.
Where are some good places to find replacement sheet metal patch panels?
First off welcome to the site and congratulations on your new ride. Try National Parts Depot, Sacramento Vintage Ford, Dennis Carpenter, Blue Oval Truck Parts, LMC truck parts those are just a few I can think of off the top of my head. Good Luck JOE
Generally speaking, most patch panels for F1's are of questionable quality and need some (or a lot of) tweaking to look decent. The exception to that rule are the patch panels home made by one of our members, Reamer. They are excellent.
Thanks for the info, guys. The truck is actually fairly solid, but does have a little rust-through on the lower back edge of front fenders, lower doors, lower front edge of rear fenders, and top of front windshield channel. The bottom of the tailgate and the rolled panel below it are pretty rough. I haven't taken a good look at the floor pans or the truck's bed, but they may need some help, too. I'll post pics of the truck later.
well reamer makes the lower back edge of the front fenders but they are for the bigger trucks.. I think he was talking about making them for the f-1
s but im not sure. you might want to send him a PM
I Found a great source for all steel panels for my 1950 F-1 project. at Northern Classic Trucks. They are a small company , Husband and Wife team whom do a real nice job. They are located in Michigan and they stamp many of there own panels. the fit was perfect on everything I received .I even ordered a new early tailgate also, The website is www.northernclassictrucks.com . Good luck on your restoration . I'm new to the site also. I hope this info helps.
