Can't win for loosing

I found the parts I needed for the steering column at the wrecking yard today. they were in a 72 F100. Parts interchange says same column up till 75. I put them in she shifts great now even stays in park. got it up and make a test run and have the engine cut out. It was running out of fuel changed filters try again bad fuel pump. put new one on now it is dark ebough I can see sparks jumping from the coil to ground. oh look the coil is cracked around the wire. Take it for a test drive she cuts out again. Fuel filter pluged again. now we are pulling the tank and blowing out the lines. This is fun right??? We shall see what tomorrow brings. I QUIT for tonight. This is what you get for a $800.00 truck. I knew they were trying to hide something just not this much lol

Jim, Go down to your local Ford dealership, look at some of them trouble free $40,000.00 trucks and then start looking at your little problems, and they might not look so bad.

40 year old trucks can have some problems but they don't come with a payment book.

And Ford trucks prior to 1980 don't have computers. Thank your lucky stars you don't have to mess with one of those electronic nightmares. Thank those lucky stars again...you also don't have any smog crappola, just a PCV valve.

Fixin' a 60's truck is a snap compared to the later stuff. It's so easy, a cave man can do it!

Pull the gas tank, take it to a radiator shop for a clean out, and have it coated with rust preventitive. Replace the filter screen on the pickup tube...check the gas tank float wheile you at it...it might have gas inside. All these parts are still available from Ford and prolly NAPA.

C0AZ-9202-A .. Float

C1TF-9276-A .. Fuel Sender Gasket

D1AZ-9A011-A .. Fuel Tank Pickup Tube Filter Screen

Yea I know just thought I would share some of my fun with everyone. I pulled the tank and wouldn't you know it aside from a little sand in it it looks great. Now I am going to check all the lines and see what I find I don't want any problems once it is back together.

There is no fuel tank filter screen on the tank and you could not pull the pickup tube off if you wanted it appears to be welded inplace
