I at first installed a front leveling kit and my rear was lower after that. Today I found a 4x4 shop that had a BDS leaf kit and they installed it. All I can say is WOW! The truck drives way better especially around corners like offramps and such. She said I should have added about 1000lb carrying capacity. It now has a slight rake but I like it way better. It appeared to be sagging before. Here is a pic. 2007 STX 2wd with AS 2" front leveling kit and BDS Add A Leaf in the rear.
This one is not harsh at all. I have terrible luck so I was preparing myself to not like it and was amazed. It rides exactly the same as before except I can take corners much quicker now. I really pushed it on a sharp offramp yesterday and it stuck nicely.
It raised it about 1.75" to 2". I might have been level before, but it seemed like the rear had a sag to it from different angles. Now it has a very slight rake look to it. I don't mind because now I can carry more and not worry about it sagging as much. I paid $130 for the kit and $150 for labor. Just didn't feel like doing it today myself.
I actually stopped at a local 4x4 shop. I knew that AutoSprings kit was $145 on ebay so I figured $130 was a good price. It took them 2hrs to install so I figure this might be a PITA job so keep that in mind.
for the money you guys are paying, why wouldnt you go with a set of airbags instead ??? you can get a set for about 220, with a 5,000 LB capacity, and they install in about 2 hours (assuming you are taking your time). plus, you have adjustability and can put it exactly where you want it, regardless of the load. just a couple thoughts....
Maybe I’m just old school. The air bags due sound like a good idea. I probable should have looked into it a little more before just dropping in a spring although I am happy with the outcome.
