Timing question

400, 4x4, c6
Having a heck of a time finding the timing marks. Pointer is there and obvious, but can't find scribes on damper. Held rag wetted with brake cleaner against damper while idling to clean, still can't see any marks. Definitely another one of Ford's "better ideas." Any pointers?
