Air horn compressor
Hey! I just salvaged an air horn off some frieghtliner in the junkyard. It sounds great on my shop compressor, and i really want to put it in my truck. My only problem is that i havnt found an electric tank and compressor setup that is under 200$ which is way out of my budget. Is their any cheaper setups? I wouldnt mind running a compressor off my serpentine belt if those are cheaper. Thanks for any help!

For decent volume and pressure your going to have to pay to play. Now a trick that worked for me, was I ran one off a scuba cylinder. You could put a big tank in your truck and fill it off your shop compressor.

Hey! That sperate tank idea will work great. I can get my horn to honk a few times loudly, just off of the leftover air in the hose after i shut off the compressor. WOLO makes great stuff to, but its a little pricey. Thanks for your help!

There's some 12V compressors that were used in OEM applications for seats or suspension or something. Ask at a wrecking yard. Or, some 12v tire-inflater compressors that have decent sized motors and pumps on them. Use them to top up the tank, but fill the tank first at home or at the gas station or you may burn out the little compressor.
Another option is to install a York A/C compressor; do a search for "on-board air" to find out how to do that. It could be very cheap, and give you enough CFM to run air tools.
