C4 Vs T-18

Which tranny would be better for towing as far as gearing goes, gas milage to.
1972 C4 vs 1986 T-18

Automatics are usually rated higher than manual trannies for towing. But the c4 is not a very heavy duty tranny compared to the c6, so the t-18 manual in this case may be a better choice. The t-18 would also win the mileage race.

the c4 doesn't have the best rep for durability. if you want an auto then c6 is best option for towing. sticks will usually get a couple mpg better than an auto.
