Just thought I'd put this out there just in case. I'm looking to trade my 1960 style side bed for a side step bed. You bring your truck and tools and we'll make the trade. I don't care about paint as long as it's not to rusty. Can post pics of mine if anybody's intrested.
Here's another suggestion for you in your search for beds. Keep your eyes peeled in your local classifieds, etc for pick-up bed trailers. Alot of the time they can be picked up pretty cheap, you can swap the beds out and then resell the trailer and sometiems even make money on the deal.
I have had decent luck doing it that way a couple of times.
Bobby
this may seem kinda obvious but used car lots { i just found a 64 that is completely rotted in the cab but a beautiful stepside bed for my son in law on one for 250 } and wander out into the rural areas you'd be suprised what you find behind sheds , barns etc..
Bobby has a good idea. I found a trailer in a small town near here made from a 55 ford short narrow bed that is rust free with a few very small dents. I'm trying to talk the guy out of it. we'll see what happens. .................RUSTY

That hasn`t work for me, I found a 55/6 box as well and the owner won`t part with it now matter what I try.
Man, if someone dumped a load of dirt or what ever from that height into the back of my old truck he wouldn`t getting paid for that deed and wouldn`t be eating sollid food for awhile.....
You should have seen my face. I thought they we're just going to shovel it in and then they dump about a ton and a half of it. And this truck is still all original. Even the leaf springs.
And just FYI "It" is Grade A Cow *****. Seriously, I got four tickets to the Angels game in the Diamond Club for doing this. Well worth it.

I've been hauling river rock (4" - 6" diameter smooth rocks) by the 1/2 yard in my 88 Silverado. When the guy dumps it in, you can hardly feel it. He is careful to keep away from the glass and the tailgate. That's the difference between a tradesman and a minimum wage flunky.
