Finally Got-er Done!!!!
I finnally got my pillar mount 3 guage pod and all the guages mounted and functioning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What I bought. (All From Summit, great service!!) All Autometer
ATM-17303 3 guage pillar mounting pod $59.95
ATM-5704 Phantom series Boost Guage $52.88
ATM-5744 Phantom series Pyro Kit $135.88
ATM-5784 Phantom series Vacuum Kit $45.95
How I did it.
Pillar Mounting Pod
I had to buy two different colors of grey paint and kinda spray them at the same time to get a perfect match to my interior, but damn I nailed it. I cut the exiting pillar about 6 inches above the bottom and about 6 or 8 inches below the top of the mounting pod to allow for the wires and lines. I used the remaining lower and upper pieces for support and fastened them with the plastic fasterners provided with the Pod. I held the new pillar and the existing pod together and drilled holes to match the existing ones, and used those to mount-er up. The guages were a little hard to mount in the pod because there is not enough room within it. (this is a Flaw Autometer should really address)
Boost Guage
I removed the 1/8" NPT plug in the turbo air chamber and replaced it with a 1/8"NPT to 1/4" hose adapter (I had to buy) I used the provided 1/4" hose to 1/8" hose rubber adapter provided to hook the line in. I also removed the pressure line from the turbo waste gate, and plugged it.
Vacuum Guage
I used the provided 1/4" hose to 1/8" hose to hook straight to the vacuum distribution manifold after removing a cap from one of the spare outlets.
Pyrometer
I found a contact at the fuse block that is powered only when the ignition switch is on and tapped it to provide the pyro's power. I drilled and tapped a 1/8" hole in the drivers side exhaust manifold right under the back most Cylinder and installed the probe there.
Getting Through The Firewall
I had previously drilled a 1-1/2" hole in the firewall just to the passanger side of the gas pedal.(There is a flat spot there) I used it to run all my lines through.
Back Lights
I had previously tapped the light bulb in the ash tray for my dimmer controled circuit. I just tapped it again. It is a pain to get to that ash tray bulb wire. I used the green bulb cover to match the other guages I have installed and the factory instrument cluster.
The Readings
Vacuum Max 22 in.hg.
Boost about .5psi Idle, 5psi at shift points, max with waste gate functioning 7psi, max without waste gate 10psi when I got out of her.
Pyro 225* at Idle, Max 800* gettin on it, about 400* just toddlin around.
