I have a 2001 powerstroke that acts like it runs out of fuel. I can drive it about two miles down the road,It's allways about the same distance. Then it will stumble, Then keep running. Then it will run fine the rest of the day. Sometimes it will throw the check engine light on, But will have no codes.
Is there a check valve in the fuel pump that could be letting air in the lines.
Any help would be GREAT!
Mine was acting the same way.. turned out to be a very loose badly designed plastic 9 pin connector under the valve cover for the glow plugs and your injectors.. It was almost a 1/4" apart.. Fixed it with a homemade shim... The other connector under the other valve cover was also loose but still working..Ford i guess fixed the problem in later part of 2002. Welcome to the forum

Almost sounds like a PCM reset. If it is, there will be no throttle response while it cycles. Quickest way to get it back is let off the throttle totally then it should recover. Of course it could be something else but that is an odd symptom same conditions everytime.
