Anyone out there got some real life suggestions on how to get the most bang out of my 300 cu.in. inline six. Aside from spending thousands on aftermarket
parts. I know some of guys or gals have some suggestions unless God forbid
getting a V-8.
just save your money and be happy with it the way it is, gas aint gettin cheaper.
If you're looking for the best truck engine ever then look no further, if your looking for a race engine there are much better choices.
It'll react to mods just like any other engine. A good intake, a decent 2bbl or 4bbl carb, a header and decent exhaust, those mods will help a little. If you wanna tear into it a little more a cam will also help out. Don't go to crazy with it and you should be fine.
its never going to amaze you with lightning fast speed so my vote is save the money. i'm not really putting any money into anything performance oriented other then things needed to keep the truck safely running. i wouldn't suggest dumping money in it unless you're planning a full frame up resto in which case i'd transplant a new engine.
Take it from someone with a hot-rodded 460 that wishes he had his old 83 F-150 with the stock 300-6 back, save your money and enjoy what the factory gave you 'cause it'll never be a race truck, just a workhorse.
I love the old 300 so much that I'm thinking about how easy it would be for me to swap my 460 out and put a 300-6 in my truck.
