I've owned my 94 Bronco 351W for about a year now, and I can't get over the inaccurate steering and that dead spot in the center. Do all full size Fords do this? What can I do to correct this? My Chevy trucks never had this problem, but I really love this Bronco (the original SUV's)! Any suggestions are much appreciated.
I have the same truck and I had the same complaints. This is what I did to get mine tightened up. The first place to start is check that everything is tight in the front end tie rods, ball joints and steering box (I tightened down on the screw in the center of the steering box) Use caution if you do this because you can overtighten it and damage it easily. A good front end alignment helps alot(not just a toe in job)It's hard to find a good alignment mechanic because the shims for the caster camber adjustment are a pain to install and they will not mess with them unless they are way out.
I have also installed energy suspension radius are and axel pivot bushings. The passenger side radius arm bushings are prone to melting due to the heat from the Cat converter.
I also have a steering stabilizer,4" suspension lift and 32" BFG AT tires and my truck drives very good now. Sorry for the long winded message.I hope some of it helps
How do you like the MSD ignition and K N filter? They are going to be my next investments.
Thanks for the great advice! I HIGHLY recommend the K+N Fuel Injection Kit and MSD ignition. The ignition really gives the engine some juice at high end rpm's and the K+N adds torque at low end. My wife loves it because it growls loudly when you punch the gas. I've heard these two help alot when paired with a high flow exhaust. That's the next investment after I try some of your tips on steering. Thanks again.
