Just odered!!! New to forum!

I just ordered my 2008 Dark Toreador red F350 XLT Crew cab 4x4 diesel. Don't have a delivery date yet, but I hope its close to the 6-8 weeks like the dealer said. I ordered it with the cloth Camel interior, captains chairs, audiophile stereo, adjustable pedals, tailgate step, TBC, upfitter switches, off road package, fog lights, clearance lights, 18" wheels, security group, heavy service suspension, block heater, shift on the fly, chrome steps, sliding rear window. I opted not to get the body side moulding. Also I purchased this truck under the X-PLAN. I have some questions about break in time and towing. Seems a lot of people do. If the truck arrives in july, I am taking my fifth wheel camper on a 1 hour and 20 min trip to new york from mass. If I take a road trip to new hampshire and put 500 miles on the truck with nothing in tow and no payload. Will this be good enough to pull my 9534 lb fifth wheel? I won't have time to reach 1000 miles before towing.

Page 5 of my manual
Breaking in your vehicle
During the first 1,000 miles of driving maintain speeds below 70mph and vary speeds frequently. This is recommended to give the moving parts a chance to break-in.
Do not tow a trailer or use your vehicle to snowplow until it has been driven at 500 miles.
Towed with mine only about 20 miles last week with 900 miles on it. Nice color you are ordering too!

So as long as I put 500 miles on the odometer before towing my fith wheel, I should be fine? I live in western mass, so we will drive to hampton beach and back. That should add up the miles.

Should be fine. What gears did you get. Is your weight dry? Ours is about 10500 dry and about 13m loaded. It pulled it up the hills at about 1/2 to 2/3 trottle what a difference from my v10. It spent a lot of time on the floor, but sure proved itself. The first time out less than 1000 miles towing I wouldn't to to hard just to be extra safe. But with the 6.4 you will not have to. Good luck, you will really like it.

I ordered it with the 3:73 limited slip. Our camper is 9534lbs max gross weight. The dry weight is around 7400lbs. Can you imagine I actually pull with with my current 2003 F250 CC 4X4 with the 5.4L. I can't wait for the 6.4L. Uphills will not be a battle anymore. I will be very cautious driving, towing, and parking this beast for a long time.

FYI on delivery. I ordered mine 4 1/2 weeks ago and it is being delivered on Saturday to my dealer in Washington state. Too bad I am leaving on Saturday for vacation. You will probably get yours early too. Once the order is in, ask your dealer for your customer order number. YOu can call ford and they can tell you the status of your truck at anytime.

Congrats on the new truck. Just ordered my 350 DRW a week ago. They said 4-5 weeks for delivery, hope they're right. You've got plenty of power to pull that fifth wheel. I had a 03' 350 V-10 and those hills still haunted me.

What combo did your order? what gears did you have in your V10 and what are you towing? A lot of questions, just currious?
