If you go to the parts store to get one bring the old one with you to make sure you get the right one. Or take the one you got to a hydraulic shop and have them make you a new one.
When replacing hoses always install a return line filter.
Wix Transmission/PS Filter

Ford filter alone #XC3P-7B155-BA
200 psi working, pressure relieved, magnetic

I know this is not the original topic of the thread, but I'm bringing this back to the top.
I need help finding one of these filters. After seeing this thread I searched a little bit on here and found a couple old threads that mention this filter - where people have found them and for how much. After reading that I searched eBay and found nothing. Went to the Ford dealer and they told me the Ford part number was changed and that instead of "AA" on the end - it was now an "E". Better yet - they wanted $76 for this kit. This doesn't sound right at all after hearing the prices others paid for theirs.
Anyone from the Southern California area find one of these in a local autoparts store? Anyone know a spot online?
I forgot to take the Wix part # with me so I didn't hit any parts stores yet. Just trying to find if someone knows who would carry it around here. On the old threads I saw O'Reilly and schucks or Car Quest having them (possibly), but we don't have any of those chains around me...
1 last question - wouldn't an inline fuel filter (metal case of course) off a carbed vehicle do the same thing????
The WIX filter above has an internal bypass valve. When the filter clogs the fluid will bypass the filter element and keep flowing. A fuel filter does not have a bypass valve so when the filter clogs up it will either blow out the media and release a ton of dirt into the system or it will completely block off and cause the pressure in the line to rise to the point where the weakest spot blows up.
