2008 Wiring Logic...

Well I have been waiting for several months for shop manuals and wiring diagrams for my new F-550. The printed material is not all available from Helm. But for $180 you can get all the stuff on a CD. Very nicely done.. All wiring schematics are in color (wire color actually color on PDF). Very informative. On the other side of the coin, 2008 is majorly changed from previous Super Duties. I have a problem that my turn signals on my custom bed (LED's) blink a little too fast to me.. I bought one of those digitial flashers to replace. After looking at schematics, there is no flasher anymore. It is controlled with programming logic instead. I don't have enough information about what is needed to modify the programming logic in the new trucks yet. Maybe one of our guru's on the forum might know and will pipe in on this thread. Almost all components are connected through logic to their operation. I also wanted to disconnect the key in buzzer when drivers door is opened. THere are several inputs that control that function. Disconnect one input will generate an error somewhere else.

Good Information...

I have not checked the fleet site lately for service bulletins since trying to get air system and horns installed. Sounds like I need to get some programming software for the LED's and probably some other things that have been incorporated in the programming logic....

thanks....

2008 Programming...

I know the 20008 is pretty new to the public, but anyone know of a programming device/software yet for the 2008's?

I had the same problem with my f350, I went to the dealer and they reprogramed it for me took about 1 hr only because they had never done one before that they had to read the instruction.

The only software available at this time is for dealers and A/M upfitters. if you are an A/M upfitter qualified with FMC you can buy the software. I don't have any idea on cost.

when i did an led tail light retrofit on my excursion, i had to go to my local utility body company and get some resistors that wire inline to the power wire on the lights. the resistor takes the voltage drop making the truck think that it has the original bulbs in it. the led bulbs dont draw the power and basically tell the truck that it has a light out. i know the 08 trucks can be programmed for this but, its just another way. hope this helps.
