The drivers side of my 95 F150 does the same thing, the best I could figure out is that when the button is pushed, the rod is binding somewhere along the line. Mine only does it sporadically, once every few weeks it wont lock. for me what happens is that the motor makes the movement to lock the door, but the plunger on the door only moves down a tiny bit like it is stuck. it wants to go, but wont. I just hit the lock button repeatedy and after a few seconds it goes down and works just fine for a while.

I would suggest taking the panel of and try to see if it binds anywhere. good luck

I agree. Sounds like the mechanism is binding. I'd remove the panel and hit it with some white lithium grease.

My window switches were doing that.....seemed like the window was acting up. I sprayed some electronic contact cleaner down around the sides of the button and it helped a lot. There are contacts in there that get dirty over time. I'm sure you have some laying around....give it a try.

Good Luck

92F150Flare, for me it didnt seem to be a contact problem, because the plunger on the door would try to move but it was like something was stopping it, the mechanism would make all of the movements, but the motion wouldnt get to the locking part. the switch worked every time, it was somewhere further down the line that was acting up.
