Question Got a question about 302

I have a 302 with a performer intake with 600 cfm holley the rest is stock may be bored , the engine is in a dirt track car the car runs good but i am taching out at 5200 rpm and everyone one i talk to say i should be able to get atleast 6000 stock or not , and i was wondering if you guys know why its maxing out at 5200 rpm , could it be a timing issue ive also learned this week that i dont need to run vacuum to the dist just have 36 total advanced timing, ive also heard the it could be my valve springs could be weak thats why i cant run more but its a long block from napa with like 7 races. so everything should be fresh

It sounds like theirs a rev limiter but theres not one to give yall a idea

Ditto it's likely the valve springs. Go for a set of stiffer single springs. Something like the O.E. roller springs

The intake, heads, and exhaust will limit rpm also, especially the heads. If it can't breathe, it won't spin. The performer intake is just an aluminum copy of the OE. Is port work allowed? Do you have to run mufflers?
