Yeah big time, that its social security number. I wa super bummed to find out they took those off when painting, or atleast try and rewrite the information. But I can manage, I just like to know if I need to upgrade if there not 4.10s. They seem to be plenty powerful, but if they wernt 4.10s, I could only imagaine how much this thing could haul with that gearing. What do you have Farmboy?
My '95 F350 with a 460 V8 E4OD has a 3.55 rear end. There is a tag on the axle itself with codes on it. Attached to one of the bolts holding the rear cover on.
How do I know what I have in my truck. 1990 F-250 auto 4X4 8800 LB GVWR
(WB 155) (Type GVW X268) (Body GJM) (Trans E) (Axle C5) (Springs 93A)
FOTA-15204A10-AA
the reasons you cant go more than 100: too heavy and your computer wont let you. the 3.55 gears will increase your top end speed but decrease your low end acceleration (vs 4.10s)
Hear is a way to guestamate what you have. Jack up the rear end so you can turn the wheel. Mark the drive shaft mark a spot on your tier. turn your tier and see how many times the drive shaft rotates. If your drive shaft turns about 33/4 times it is probly 3.73 4 and a little it is 4.10. you may want to re do it a couple of times to be sure. You can use a piece of tape and a pen line for a fine mark. I use the inside of the tier lined up with say the bottom of the fender opening.
Good luck
Bill
For my purposes, the 3.53 gearing is basically perfect. I street race and do some towing with my F350, 7.5L, so having the ability to be able to go over 100mph really helps seal a race off, but I think with the help of the headers, and some more engine mods, I think I can improve me off the line acceleration, I just dont want to go any bigger on the gearing, especially with gas, and my need for high speed
yep, thats pretty much how i looked at it- my 78 4x4 has 3.54's in it- its pretty much the ideal all around gear. low enough for work, high enough that the economy wont totally suck and you still have decent top end... now if you had a built carb 460 you could do 130 easy, but being fuel injected the computer limits you on rpm and cams, the heads limit you on flow, intake is restrictive, and exhaust is really restrictive, so even if you reprogrammed the computer (took the governor program out) you still wouldnt be able to do more than about 110 because of all the other restrictions
In 94-95 years they had a problem with keeping rears in stock.mfg was on strike
I had to wait a long time to get mine built.Ordered it spring/ summer of 94 built in dec 94.I wanted 3.53...........95 f 350 4x4 srw 460 4.30
