Does anyone know the the distance from wheel mounting surface to wheel mounting surface on the DANA 44 rear axles and the semi floating versions of the DANA 60 rear axles for these years of trucks? (61-66)
I know Ford had these as optional axles in both 2 wheel drives and 4 wheel drives and they used the DANA 44 rear from before the 1960's through to 1979, and the semi floating DANA 60 rear up to about 1972. Both of these axle will have the 5 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern.
If I remember right they are a little narrower than some of the later model trucks.
Thanks,
Brad
P.S. I am going to post this in the 67-72 section also.
I do not have the dimension you're looking for, but memory says around 63"?. Not sure what your trying to do, but you can put a later model rear-end in these trucks, no problem, I've recently done it.
I'm trying to find a DANA rear axle with the 5 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern to stick in the back of my Jeep Wagoneer that is around 61" wms/wms. I currently have a 65.5" wide rear in there now and the tires hang out farther than I like. Jeep did have a rear that is 61" wide, with an off-set diff and 6 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern, so I might end up re-doing the bolt pattern on one of these.
