i am ordering a new trans and need to know whether my c6 has 7 or 8 teeth on the speedo gear shaft...does anyone know a quick way to check or convert the speedo to the number of teeth on the shaft?
The transmission provider should ask what rear end ratio you have. The 4.10 uses the 7 tooth shaft and taller gears use the 8 tooth or the other way around. Anyhow the number of teeth depends on the rearend gear.
the transmissons are all the same inside, the only thing that would change the speedo reading is the plastic gear on the end of the speedo. so as long as you still have the plastic gear on the speedo you don't need to worry about it. the gear should be color coded red, white, grey, yello, green and blue.
the trans has been rebuilt already so it could have been changed...i have a 4.10 axle with 16 in tires...after squeezing my head as fas as possible and counting from every which way i would say i have the seven tooth shaft...the gear is colored red if that helps and i am running 235/85/r16 when the sticker on the door reads 215/75/r16...i also heard it can be determined from a part number on the trans, does anyone know where on the trans?
btw, for future reference where can i buy plactic replacement gears?
