I was just wondering if someone could tell me what would be needed to change a floor shifter to a columm shifter on a '68 f-100. The tranny has a granny gear, is it possible to change?

Welcome to FTE
There's no way to convert a 4 speed to a column shift on a F Series pickup. No F series pickup ever had 4 on the tree, so there's no parts available.
Thanks Bill. Thats what I figured, I just wanted to make sure. Since I need the interior space, I think Ill go with an auto since I was planning on changing the column anyway. What else is needed besides the flywheel, column, pedals, and radiator?
you can use the rad you have just put a $20 cooler infront of it for the auto trans.you can also just take out the clutch pedal and leave the brake pedal there. when ya go to the j-yard to get a colum dont forget the rod that goes to the trans
Thanks guys, I really appreciate the help. Arent the starters different from manual to auto?
Let's see you have a 1968 F100, right? What engine do you have...the rare flathead V16?..ooops sorry, that a Cadillac engine. How about an F head 6? Nope..that a ****** engine. Hmm, maybe it's a flat 6 like the Tucker and Corvair used....kinda doubt it though. (you didn't list the engine size, so I'm joking around )
The 240/300 sixes use different starters M/T or A/T. The 360/390 starters are the same.

Sorry Im new to the site. Its a 240. Thanks for your info. I just started to restore this 68 stepside, it has dual exhausts. I had never seen that before with this size engine.

Ach! Restoring a Stepside? Hmm, a Stepside is a Chevrolet. The correct term is: Flareside.
Thanks Bill. This is my first Ford Truck, hence the lack of correct terms. So are there any other parts I will need besides the aforementioned to make the swap to auto?
