Transmission Upgrades

I am looking to upgrade components of the auto tranny(i.e. torque converter, pan, etc), anybody have a recommended list of what order I should do it, more then likely be piece meal and what company has the best rep. for the 6.0's and the torqshift tranny in particular? I'm trying to help my tranny be able to sustain cooler temps and prolonged hauling of heavy loads. While I have yet to have a problem with the stock components, I'm trying to help the stock tranny out and hopefully help it last longer then the stock tranny with just all stock parts. Only other item to consider is that I am running an SCT and the highest hp tune I have is the agg. street(90 over stock, which is pretty mild compared to most). Techs if there is anything in the stock tranny and components that you think should be upgraded for my application please feel free to let me know(or if you believe that stock is better). Thanks for the input.

Transgo has several kits available, the PSK type should make the trans shift very nicely and is usually tuneable.

Bigger coolers always help, there are several reputable manufactures.

I am not sure of your T/C, but the 4r100 still doesn't have a lot of t/c available. I would check with factory tech and performance industries.

B&M should have a pan, but I recently saw another company who had produced pans that look like mag hy-tech but much cheaper. I have a B&M, but if it would have been my choice I would have used mag hy-tech. I have the 4r100 so I am not sure about your trans.

I thought their ford diesel kits were for the 7.3 diesels not the 6.0?

If they don't have a kit yet, they will soon. I haven't talked to them in a while, but they are nice people, give them a call.

try this website www.suncoastconverters.com pretty much everything you're looking for you can find here.

FWIW--I'm on my second tranny with the stock convertor. Matt from LIPD has run his stock convertor through at least 2 and the stock tranny cooler is HUGE.

I had the tranny parts discussion with a vendor this weekend and everyone uses basically the same clutches, etc. You did the best thing you can do for your stock tranny by getting the SCT. Everything else is gravy from here on out--IMHO.

Nope, they have 'em for 6.0's, have for quite awhile, at least since the snap ring fiasco. I've got kits in both my 550's, so far so good on the 350, but that one will be a major upgrade when I do it.
