Starter Problem
I just got a 1990 F250 2 wheel drive with a 7.5l Gasoline engine. The truck's body is in rough shape and will be a nice challege.
The engine ran fine, started up just fine when cold but turned over realy slow when hot. But still, it started every time.
After a week, I got stuck at the local hardware store, it will not crank at all.
I replaced the battery with the proper one, the one that was in the truck was way too small.
I also replaced the solenoid
Now the truck makes a ratteling noise when I try to start it. I have gotten a new starter for it, but I have trouble getting the old one off. It seems like I have to remove the exhaust pipe to get to the top bolt.
Any suggestions on how to remove the starter?
Any suggestions on what else could be wrong with the truck?

Old, oily starters can easily develope a problem with heat soak.
I have been lucky enough to be able to use alot of extensions and swivles to get all of my starters free. Try a swivle next to the socket and enough extension to clear the pipe.
