I just finished replacing my c-bushings and Radius arm bushings on my '78 Bronco, in the prosess, i had to remove the sway bar extentions so i could pull the front axle forward. Well, one of the extentions broke off. My question,s to ya'll is, How important is the sway bar? Is it possible to drive it without the sway bar? This is my daily driver, and any and all responses will be greatly appreciated. Thank You kindly. Rob

Hey Rob,
If you have dual shocks in the front then I would not worry to much. If you have singles, and it feels like the body of your vehcile whats to go the opposite direction that you are turning, I would start looking in the junk yard to replace the broken part. This feel is increased with the lift.

Hey Rob, I have a 78 Bronco with the single shocks in the front. I took my F swaybar off because I wanted as much travel as I can get from the radius arms as I could. I haven't noticed any major difference on the road, and a pretty good noticable difference OFF the road.

Personally, I wouldn't even bother putting it back on, especially if you're wanting to get the 9" lift kit you want. And if you're gonna run dual Rancho 9000s(am I right on that one?), then there's no need to keep it either

Hey ya'll, thanks for the responses. 83bronc, i have the single shocks, but i have'nt noticed any difference yet, i still have one side hooked up, so maybe it's helping. I have the stock susp. so maybe that's helping also. 4x4Guy, when i eventually get my 9" (or whatever my wallet will allow) lift you would'nt try and hook these end links back up? or does anyone in the 4x4 industry sell these end links that long? Yes sir, right on the money, dual front shocks and dual steering stabalizer, with new rear springs. If it all works out. I also want to get a 460 C.I.D. and rebuild it, but i have other things in the fire for now. Thanks again for ya'lls responses, i really appreciate it. Rob

Man, almost two months later, I just got back online not long ago.....No, Rob, I still wouldn't put the links back on. In fact, I don't even know if anyone even makes the longer links for the swaybar anyway. And besides, you say you're goin with dual shocks up front anyway, so I still wouldn't bother, whether with a 4, 6, or 9" lift. I'm also saving for a 460 swap in my 78 too. The 400's getting alittle tired. I'll be doing a tune-up to get a few more miles out of it, but it's ultimately dying on me. And this is the perfect opportunity I've been waiting for to swap to a big block. Besides, I'm sure I can either build it or buy one to get me more mileage than I'm getting now.

Keep us posted as to how it's goin with you and your Bronco
