tail light wiring question

I have a canopy on my truck and it has an LED brake light on it. I noticed that when I turn my left blinker on, the canopy brake light flashes. I pulled the tail light out and found where the previous owner spliced into the wires. I found that the three wires going to the tail light are ground, running light and turn/brake.

Is there any way to wire the canopy brake light to work with just the brake light on the tail light?

Someone posted on here last week about a center high mounted stop light wire that was available in the wiring near the trailer hitch. They even posted a picture showing the wire.

I just found the thread, here you go.

If I recall the wire is on one of the tail lights.. Might be opposite to the one you got tap'd right now.. I would have to go out and look at my hitch and trace the wire..

I found it... I'll just quote it for you. The Center-High-Mount-Stop-Light circuit has it's own wire in the back... Hope this helps. I think all or our SD's have this wire BTW.

Ding-ding-ding we have a winner!

Not only is it right there, it jumps into your hand when ya reach up there. Seriously, jumped under there and found the bundle and that green wire in less than 10 seconds. It's right where the driver side frame rail and trailer receiver join (the two large bolts in the pic are what attaches the receiver to the frome). The lead has a big label right on it "High Mount Brake Light". Once found, I was even then able to just reach it from topside via the gap between the bumper and body.

The project is done, took 30 minutes including reconnoitering;
