Transmission grinds

Ive got a '95 F-250 4x4, 5 spd, with a Windsor 351. If i shift up or down too fast to second gear it grinds, and now if i shift too fast into 3rd gear it grinds as well. If i take it easy and shift real slow then it doesnt grind. Im assuming my transmission synchronizers are starting to go out, probly because my truck has 261,000 miles on it. Also, what is an in the ballpark cost to fix something like that? Any help is apprectiated

Synchros are getting weak. I was quoted $500 minimum for a bearing rebuild on a 4 speed out of the truck. Your mileage may vary.

Just for fun, check your clutch master and make sure your clutch linkage to it, its mount, and the line to the slave are all in tip top order. Worn linkage, flexing mounts and bulging lines can fubar a shift as you describe.

Would a bearing rebuild fix the grinding if the problem is the synchros? Also was your 500$ quote for a 4x4 or a 2x4 truck?

Quote was for 4x2. If the synchros are bad, new bearings won't help. Additional cost of new synchros during a rebuild isn't that much.
