Wire on alternator?

Wire on alternator?
I have a 1983 Bronco with 300 six and a wire from the alternator is not hooked to any thing. I have been looking at Haynes manual but no luck.
Any suggestions Thx.

I had the same on my 80 Bronco with a 460 engine, I was told at one time that it should be hooked to the elec. choke, but I had ran a wire from somewhere else, so I removed the wire from the alt. Everything is working and I have no charging problems.
