supercharger??
I have a 2001 F-150 4x4 5.4L V8, my friend has a 2001 Lightning (same engine) and took out his stock charger and wants to sell it to me for a unbeatable price! I know that the two trucks are almost the same, but wanted to make sure that the fuel injectors and whatever else isant the same can handle being charged. I dont want spend alot of $$ for all that just for a charger, but if it would work stock that would be great...just lookin for some input
thanks
thanks
Well, you will need the larger injectors and MAF from the Lightning. You will also need the intercooler tank, pump and hoses as well as the ECM or a custom tune. The biggest problem is that you have more compression than a lightning and the boost will probably need to be lowered with a larger pulley to keep the bottom end of the engine together.
You don't give/ have enough info.
Are you getting the whole deal?
Blower, intake manifold, throttle body, injrectiors or what.
You don't just bolt on any charger without upgrading the fuel system to feed the extra power and end up with a program retune..
There is more to this than meets the eye. Unless you are determind to learn and do an install to the end, he's not a friend, to leads you on, without telling you what else you need.
If he is installing a larger blower, even he needs upgrades.
The most basic blower install needs an intake manifold 'if a positive displacement type', belt/ drive changes, a fuel mangement unit and plumbing.
None of this is bad news but you need to know whats going on first.
It has been done before but it's not that simple a job.
