Truck Fire

I posted this on the 1980-86 forum but am putting it here as well. I've been working on 85 F150, this is all very new to me. I put Catalytic converters on, my truck has two, and I had been noticing some exhaust coming from the bottom of first one. I recently replaced the manifolds and was working with those today. I started engine and within about 5 minutes, fire was coming from area around front cat conv. Not sure this was the source so am asking...could this be? I have all carb connections plugged until I reconnect hoses. Can anyone help me with this one? I'm a little bewildered. This takes my first project to a whole new level...a low one!!
Thank You

Was the truck on fire, fire coming out of the Cat or an exaust leak in front of the Cat?

Hard to tell exactly, as I was a little freaked out and trying to get it extinguished, but seemed to be coming just from Cat. Hood was closed and when I opened it saw no signs of flames at all so I'm pretty sure it was only from the area around front cat.
Ideas?

Did that, looks like gas from Cat. Why was it coming out of there? Shouldn't the engine burn it up?

Sounds like ya are pumping raw fuel out the exhaust. I wouldn't know where to begin as there is many possibilities. Run the codes. Let us know what ya get.
