What kind of cleaners are there to clean my injectors while the truck is running? I don't mean something to put into the tank. Is there a product that I can spray or thread onto the fuel rail to do the job?
She is a 1989 F-150, 5.0L. The previous owner said she sat for almost a year before I bought her. Got most of the bugs out so far, and really want to clean up the injectors before she sees any open road. First thing I did to her was cleaning out the old gas in the tanks. She is running better now with all new plugs, wires, cap and rotor.
I know that BG has a product that threads on to the fuel rail and it also has a nozzle incorperated that sprays into the TB to clean it out while the injectors are getting cleaned + a can of some kind of cleaner goes in the gas tank. This is what some dealerships use...Chrysle dealers anyways. While doing this you block off the return line to the fuel tank. This runs off of compressed air. The 3 cans of cleaner cost about 90 dollars and the associated parts needed to do the job would cost a several hundred. You would be better off to buy all new injectors. There may be some other knock off out there that may cost less, but I am not sure.
I had my injectors cleaned at Jiffy Lube (my son worked there). Anyway after they were cleaned I heard about Sea Foam. You put Sea Foam into your brake booster vacuum line while it is running. Then you shut it down and let it sit for about 15 minutes or so. Then restart and it will smoke like crazy and when the smoke clears up your done. Do a search for Sea Foam and see what you get. I know its been talked about here before. I hope this helps.
