Hey guys. Not sure if this is the right section, move if necessary. My pal has a 1996 F 350, 7.3 L with an auto tranny. The gear selector on the column has quite a bit of play in it. You can select any gear, just lots of play. Is there a way to tighten this up. In advance, thanks for the help.

I had this exact problem in my 2000 F250. Mine was very sloppy feeling, and wouldn't even stay in 1st gear when I tried to pull it down! It is a minor adjustment though! It's my fault for not asking specifically what he did, but the dood at the transmission shop fixed it in maybe 5 minutes! There is some type of adjustment under the dash, I know I should have asked more about it, but I didn't haha. He didn't even charge me though, that's how simple of an adjustment it is. Good luck!
