I have a 96 Bronco XLT and when i slow down and get to about 10mph there is a few big clunks until i stop and then when i start up again there are a few more clunks. When it's in 4wd it doesnt clunk at all like this. Is it an auto hub problem?? Can the cold weather be causing this? Its about 5 above zero here. Thanks everyone
If it only does it when it is cold out the auto hubs might be frozen into the locked possition. on my '85 that has auto hubs it sometimes clunks because one hub unlocked but the other stayed locked. That might be your problem and try backing up twice as far if that is how you unlock your hubs.
geez!...i forgot to copy the question!..Im getting old and stupid!...the hub reply is good!..
also, check ball joints, then the other stuff..u joints, bushings..., ummm..i forget...
btw, i have a 96 and my auto hubs blew @ ~ 30k miles...
and someone drove by last weekend and bought the 78 bronco..he will finish restoring it......he was happier than...ya know..unfortunately, a good dude wanted it and has his 79 club cab (?) for sale in west virginny..so someone buy that so he can get a bronco too!
