Tire sizes

I have a '98 B3000 that came standard with P225/70R/15's. Can I replace them with P235/75R/15's?? I'm afraid I don't know enough about metric sizes to know the answer. Thanks.

It's all relative mate!! The p235's have a tread that's 10mm or 3/8 inch wider than the p225's. the 75R's have a side profile(from rim to road) that's 75% tread width. the 70R's have a side profile that's 70% tread width. In short, the p225r70's have a smaller overall diameter than do p225R75 because 75% of 225mm is more than 70% of 225mm. Apply that logic to all your tire calculations. The 15 at the end is that they fit on 15 inch rims an have to be included in the overall diameter of the tire calculation.

Simply, yes. Your speedometer will be slightly off, but if you get this done at a tire place they may be able to recalibrate it, if not, your local dealer can do it, typically for free if you catch them at a good time.

Hey Fred, speaking of bowling, I saw a video last night of a local bowler who bowls backwards... can you pull that off Mr. Flintstone?

Come to think of it, there was an episode where ol' twikle toes did a backwards bowl and ended up with a strike. I'll have to look it up. Thanks Rangerpilot. I almost forgot about that one, hee hee.

Thanks, RangerPilot. A good concise answer. No offense, Fflintstone, but if you read my question again, a simple yes or no is what I was looking for. You actually never answered my question, but only muddied the waters.
