Is there a way to test for a bad IPR?? i priced new ones and wow!! i also priced the re-seal kit for the old one, much easier on the checkbook. Have people had good luck with the re-seal kits? my truck starts fine when cold, but get it up to temperature and man, what a difference. i have to spin it over 4-6 seconds before it hits sometimes. I hear that is a classic sign of an IPR leaking back down. is there anyway to be sure or just try the re-seal kit and go from there? any help would be appreciated!! thanks!
I don't know if there is a way to test the solenoid pack, but your symptoms are indicative of bad IPR o-rings. I bought a new IPR to carry as a spare off e-bay for about $50.
i looked last night and they were all going for like $159. thats why i was curious about the o-ring re-seal kits. if i could find one for $50, i would buy it. do you still have the contact info for the guy you got yours from?
Mine cranks up imediately in the AM (cold), but once it's warm it takes a few seconds..... It also idles rougher too lately. All I've done recently is switch to Rotella synthetic.
I've finally got my truck "right". I cleared some codes, cleaned some sensors, chsnged otheres, etc.... It's running good now. I'm averaging almost 20 mpg combined city/hwy driving keeping it under 65 mph..... I have a 110 mile roundtrip to work/home everyday.
mine does the same thing but without the rough idle. I found a thread last night referring to an o-ring rebuild kit from international for $11. part number is 1825806C92

You're much more patient than I am, John. If I had 55 miles to go each way I'd be running 80-85 all the time and having to live with about 17-17.5 mpg.
Have you checked or replaced your ICP sensor? Pull the wires off the top and see if you have oil leaking through. Mine never leaked but did have similar problems. I also had no luck rebuilding my IPR. Replaced with a new one and no more problems.
