ok my brother is lookin at buyin a 79 f250 4x4 ... and we was wonderin if a lift from a 03 f250 work .... my neighobr took it off his 03 f250 and its sittin in the yard ... would the springs bolt right up in the 79's brackets ??? its a 6" lift ...
The springs won't work, they changed in 1980. And there's no way to figure out exactly what the load rate is on springs after 1979. Ford dropped the load rate charts from the parts books in 1980.
The wheels on F150's made in 1997 and later won't fit on anything before that date..because...
...the wheels went metric in 1997.

ok i am lost , but watever , at least i kno they want work now ....thanks
There's no way to use F150 wheels made after 1996 on earlier F100/150's.
F250 wheels won't work at all, because they have 8 lugs. The F250 springs are larger in diameter on the 1980 and newer trucks, so they can't be used on 1979's and earlier models.
its rough country i thank im 95% sure it is ... spring packets , the bars that connect to the rearend and come up and mount on the frame come with it to ... u kno wat im talkin about ?
hes got some 38s on some rims to ... that was on it

I had to read the responses a few times to try to figure out what everyone was talking about. I still don't know.
Those front springs will almost bolt right up to the 79. The spring bushings are just a bit wider than the hanger and the shackle on the 79, but it is nothing a flap wheel and 10 minutes can't fix.
Most guys do not like the rough country springs (including me), but they will do if the price is right. You should try driving an older truck with newer style springs with say 11 or 12 leafs. You would be amazed.
Anyway if you can score those front springs, and do a shackle flip in the back (using different hangers, not just turning the stock one around), you will clear 36's easy
I run a BDS 6" front spring (12 leafs) from a Super Duty and a pretty flat 64" rear spring with a shackle flip. I also use 2.5" spring hangers from a Super Duty, and I run 39.5" tires. Rides true on the highway even with Boggers.
Even poor springs from a later truck like the Super Duty ride better than any over the counter spring designed for our old trucks.
I was reading through here and a question i had came to mind. I have an 87 F-250 and a friend of mine has front lift springs from a 79 F-250, It appears that they would fit it, but Im not 100%. I can get the brackets for the TTB and everything but those springs cost an arm and a leg new, how hard would it be to make the 79 springs fit?
