I have a 2000 explorer limited. The ABS light came on yesterday and is staying lit. I checked all the fuses and they are okay. I'm going to crawl under and check the connections on the speed sensors this weekend.
What are the weak links in this system? Any suggestions on what my problem could be and where do I start looking first? Any thoughts on the cost of fixing different parts of the system. Is it okay to drive this thing until I can find out what the problem is or take it to a shop?
Your brakes are suppose to work as if it doesn't have anti-lock brakes when the ABS system has a problem. I would hate to start replacing parts to find the problem. That could get costly, and very time consuming. You might want to take it to a local mechanic you trust. He might help you diagnose it and let you fix it, if it's something you want to tackle.
