Hey everyone! Hope all is well tonight with all of you! I install a Dieselsite coolant filter yesterday, and noticed that the small amount of coolant that I lost did not have much color, or odor. Does anyone know if regular old coolant testers will check the protection level of this stuff thats supposed to be Gold?? I am wondering if due to previous repairs maybe protection levels may be low, promoting coolant boil/puke?? Also does anyone elses fan clutch, continue to cut out, then cut back in briefly, and do this in a shorter time frame each sucessive cycle? GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS!! DALEDIESEL.
A standard coolant tester will tell you the freeze/boil limit of your current fluid. It will not tell you if the SCA are still at proper levels in your coolant. But if your coolant is within proper mileage interval for changes and if the tester shows the proper freeze/boil points of the FMC Gold coolant then your SCA should be okay.
As far as the fan clutch locking up, it depends on the PCM, outside temp, road, driving conditions, load AC on or off. Mine varies considerably depending on how these conditions change.
If you want to have your coolant chemically tested, contact Amalgamated Laboratories Inc, located in Phoenix Arizona at 602-252-0280 or at their website at www.amalgatech.com
