Spark plug wires??

Can anybody help me with a part number for ignition wires? I got a set from my parts place and they listed everything but a 292. He gave me that set anyway, but ends are wrong. I assume the plugs on the truck are correct with straight dist ends and 90 plug ends?

Do I need to go with a universal set? Any number will help. Dang, getting parts for this thing is tough. Got the wrong oil filter the first time. Ugh!~

Thanks,
Luke

Spin on filters (FL-1-A) are all the same, the cartridge types are not. You can buy a kit to change your cartridge type filter to a spin on.

Plug Wires

D1AZ-12259-F (Motorcraft WR-3801) These are tailored, meaning they fit right on. They are not used with Rams Horn manifolds.

D1PZ-12259-L (Motorcraft WR-3325) Universal, comes with ends, which must be installed on wires. Not used with Ram Horn manifolds.

D1PZ-12259-M (Motorcraft WR-3326) Universal (see above) used with Ram Horn manifolds.

Maybe the parts store can cross over the Motorcraft numbers. I'll check another source for the wires.

Other source (Green sales) doesn't have anything...try joblotauto.com Their phone number is on their website.

Bill, thanks so much. I may end up with the universals....not the end of the world I dont reckon. I called my parts guy and he checked the Motocraft WR3801 and said it had changed to a Ford # that he read off to me, but that it was not obtainable....

Do you recall that number?

You might try calling FTE sponsor Green Sales. I checked the numbers I posted, they didn't have them but might have something else.

Thanks for the tip.

I just called my local guy back. The Motocraft referred to a Ford DPZ-12259-BA Does that mean anything to ya?

Something is missing, the number between the D and the P. Samples: D5PZ, or D4PZ. If I had the correct number, I could run it for you to see if anyone has one.

I'm trying to get the correct set of plug wires for my '64 with a 292. What the heck is this "ram's horn" stuff all about? My engine has the stock exhuast set-up with the cross-over pipe on top, in front. Is that Ram's horn??

64, I feel sure you will need the same ones that I got. The Rams Horns (which I dont have) were the stock "header" on the bigger trucks. They had individual outlets from each bank heading down and back. The outlets were in the middle. If you have the crossover tube you do not have ram horns. They started on the F500/600(?) trucks and up.

There are two different types of Ram Horn manifolds.

272/292's use one type, the Lincoln based Y blocks (302/332) used in F700 and larger trucks use another. They do not interchange.

Yeah, you'd know if you had the Ram Horns...your wallet would be about $300 lighter. LOL. Those things look good and work good, but expensive (unless then came on your truck).
